“…what does it mean? what is it exactly? Is it real? … like if someone has ADHD is not like you have herpes, like you can say I have a disease. What is it?.” – Joe Rogan
On episode #1869 with Gabor Mate Joe Rogan asks if ADH is real. ADHD is real. Just because you cannot see something and point your finger to it does not mean it does not exist.
Joe Rogan is biased in his thinking about athletic development versus intellectual development. He seems appalled at the idea that you could sit for instruction and further your mind. This is somehow “unnatural” to him. But he does not balk at the thought of standing in a room for hours at a time moving heavy pieces of iron to grow muscles. The latter is fine but the former is abhorrent.
ADHD is not like big-foot. It is no more a myth than is heart disease, or diabetes. ADHD is not about profits and politics. ADHD is a scientific fact, like near-sightedness.
The public needs to be educated about ADHD. But we must begin by accepting that it is real.
