Another Reason To Quit for The New Year -Smokers Are Essentially Burning Money

As if you needed it, here is another good reason to stop smoking. If the health benefits are not enough to motivate you to quit smoking then perhaps the personal financial costs will.

People who smoke cigarettes can spend as much as $2,500 a year.

If  you stopped smoking at age 35 and invested $2,500 every year with a yearly rate of return of 8 percent, you would have more than $250,000 by retirement age 65.

Add in the extra medical expenses due to smoking that you would save. You will can clearly see why if you continue to smoke you are burning money.
