Quitting Smoking, Frienships and Sisyphus

Are you familiar with the mythology of Sisyphus?

Sisyphus is greek mythology figure cursed with the task of rolling a rock up a hill over and over again. Because just as Sisyphus reaches the top of the hill the rock rolls back down again forcing him to start all over again.

Well to many people quitting smoking might seem a Sisyphean endeavor. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

The story of Sisyphus is not the story of futility. Sisyphus is really a parable of loneliness. Sisyphus was a loner and that is his problem. If Sisyphus had a friend he could definitely get the rock up the hill and rest.

We need friends and family to succeed. You probably started smoking to be social and you can use social power to help you quit. Get a partner to help you quit smoking. A quit buddy if you please. And you will stop replaying the Sisyphus story and win once and for all.
